Day 2: The Birth of Religion
Reading: Genesis 3:1-13; Romans 7:4-6

Devotional: Adam and Eve already possessed God's image, yet the serpent convinced them they needed to obtain it through doing. This introduced the death spirit—separation from God through self-preservation, fear, hiding, and blame. When trust breaks between you and God, rules without relationship create rebellion. You begin striving in your flesh to bear fruit, but it only produces death. The law exposes what's broken inside but cannot transform your heart. No amount of boundaries, accountability, or religious activity can fix a relational problem. The solution isn't more doing—it's returning. Repentance means turning from the exhausting treadmill of performance back to the Father who's been pursuing you all along.
