Day 3: The Deception of Desire
Reading: Genesis 3:1-7
Devotional: Eve's downfall began with her eyes. The tree was "pleasant to the eyes" and "desirable" to make one wise. The enemy didn't attack her theology; he attacked her desires. He made something that had no root in God's will appear attractive, beneficial, and necessary. The same strategy works today. We're surrounded by things pleasant to our eyes—on screens, in stores, in our feeds. Each promises to make us more, better, wiser, or complete. But the result is always the same: "They knew they were naked"—uncovered, unfulfilled, and less than before.
What you desire determines what you worship, and what you worship determines what you become. The enemy knows if he can control your desires, he controls your destiny. Every natural temptation is bait for spiritual bondage.
