Day 4: Married to Your Desires
Reading: Genesis 3:16-17; Matthew 6:24-34
Devotional: "Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you." Beyond the immediate context, God reveals a spiritual principle: what you desire becomes your master. When we desire things of the flesh more than God, we enter into a covenant with those desires—and they rule over us.
We marry our pursuits, then become enslaved to what we married. The shopping addiction, the social media scroll, the constant need for more—these aren't just bad habits. They're ruling authorities we've submitted to through our desires.
Jesus offers the antidote: "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." When God becomes your desire, He becomes your husband, and His rule brings freedom, not bondage. His yoke is easy; His burden is light.
