The Watchman's Posture

Reading: Habakkuk 2:1-3, Ephesians 6:18

Habakkuk's response to his confusion is profound: "I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me" (Habakkuk 2:1). This watchman's posture is one of attentive waiting, expectant listening, and readiness to receive. In our instant-gratification culture, patient waiting on God is a countercultural act of faith. It involves actively seeking God's voice while trusting His timing. The Apostle Paul encourages us to "pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying" (Ephesians 6:18).

Today, practice the watchman's posture. Set aside time to quietly wait on God, free from distractions. Write down any insights or promptings you receive, and commit to acting on them.
