God's Unexpected Ways

Reading: Isaiah 55:8-9, Romans 11:33-36

God often works in ways that confound human understanding. In Habakkuk, God's plan to use the Babylonians as an instrument of judgment was shocking to the prophet. Similarly, we may struggle to comprehend God's methods in our lives or in the world around us.
Isaiah reminds us, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways" (Isaiah 55:8). This isn't meant to frustrate us, but to humble us and increase our trust in God's wisdom. When faced with perplexing circumstances, resist the urge to judge God's actions by human standards. Instead, marvel at the depth of His wisdom and knowledge, as Paul does in Romans 11.

Today, identify an area where God seems to be working in unexpected ways. How might this be an invitation to deeper faith and surrender?
